4 Year Alternative

 

 

Going straight to a 4-year college or university is not the only path to take post high school. There are a variety of other options out there. Whatever path you decide to take, be sure to set a solid plan, and continue to work with counselors and advisors along the way. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Community Colleges
​

Attending a community college for 2 years and transfereing to a 4 year instituion to complete a Bachelor's degree is a great option for some students. Find California Community College campuses and programs here. 

Some of Alameda's closest community college campuses include Peralta College District (College of Alameda, Merrit College, Laney College, Berkeley City), Diablo Valley College, and Los Positas College.

Transfer Agreement Guarantee (TAG) Program
For students who are considering a path from Community College to UC
​

The Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) Program is a written agreement that guarantees a community college student's admission to one of 6 UC campuses. Note that students will be required to meet specific criteria to withold their end of the agreement. UC campuses that participate in the program include: Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz. Find more information here.
